Friday, will be the day when a little town in New Hampshire  becomes the biggest place on the map.  That is the day when Senators Barrack Obama & Hillary Clinton start what some are calling the real beginning of the race for President.   It was in this town that they each recieved 107 votes.  There is going to be a rally of a crowd expected to be around 2500,  that far exceeds the population of 1700.   Call in the Fire Marshals. What is the symbolism behind this town of Unity New Hampshire?  Could this be the place that Obama announces to the world that Hillary will be his Running mate?  I seem to doubt it, but it will be like a made for TV movie  if he does.  This is where Hillary will ask her people to through their support behind Obama.  Will they?  Will See, Won't we.....

This afternoon, I watch Senator Hillary Clinton endorse Senator Barrack Obama.  In the 20+ min. of her speech she thanked the 18 million people who stood behind her.  What will happen to all those people?  She asked that they throw their support behind Obama.  22 debates later I as one of her supporters will now have to look at the whole picture once again.  One thing will be who the running mates are for both Obama and McCain.   I truly don't believe he (Obama) will pick Mrs. Clinton,  nor do I necessarily think he should.  This race seems like it's been going on forever and some very big names have dropped by the wayside.  She said she ran as a daughter whose mother would never have dreamed of the opportunity she had.  She heads to her home in New York for a deserved rest.  I know alot of people out here can't stand her and no amount of talk will change your mind.   She knew that also and under different circumstances things might have been different.  She's disappointed  and so am I.  Life will go on.  (I   hope)   If Obama becomes President, there will be a role for Hillary in his administration.  Secretary  Of  State has a nice ring.

It seems we have been hearing speeches and watching primaries since Bush took his second term in office.  They need to change our primary system in a big way.   The candidates start campaigning way to early that by the time the elections come you go into the booth and just vote to get it over with.  It starts out with twenty or so and one by one they drop bombs of lead.  Finally when the primaries start we have over 6 months of mud slinging and name calling.

This is my proposal 2012.  We hold the primaries according to your time zone.  Candidates can start advertising in Sept. and on Jan. 2 the primaries begin.  first week the eastern time zone votes, followed by central, mountain and west.   No need for conventions.  Winner take all.  No debates till after this point.   The whole process should take 6-7 months.  I'm sick and tired and I'm not going to take it any more.   Yeah Right....

Yes you read it right.  Hillary Clinton should leave the Democratic Party and run for President as an Independent.   I think this would be her last chance to win the race for President.  The Democratic Party has deserted her and she should do the same to them.   Let Obama get the Democratic nod and McCain the Republican.  Let the people vote and have three choices.  If Nader runs well have 4.   I think this will be her best shot to win the Presidency.   Most of the people that support her say they would not vote for Obama.  I won't!  I would never forgive myself if I don't vote, so I would vote for McCain or waste my vote with Nader.  She needs to do this quick and get people use to this radical idea.  I want Hillary to be the next President of the United States.   The Kentucky Derby had more than 2 horses run the race.  Look what happened to the second place horse.  It fell down broke both of it's ankles and was  put down.

I was sitting here watching my Friday night Political shows and just thinking a couple of things.

What if Obama and Clinton were republicans.  They were conservatives instead of liberal.  Would they still have the support they have now?  (And don't have).  Would you the die hard republican be for Hillary.  Would you be pushing for Barrack the way you may have wanted Mitt?  Where would Oprah be standing?  Is she behind Obama because he is black or because he is a democrat?  Would her millions of dollars and fans be behind a black republican?  Are you a Hillary supporter because she is a democrat or because she is a women?  I have pondered these questions and come to a conclusion  for myself.   I am for Mrs. Clinton to the end.  Some think that may be on Tuesday and it may very well be.   Till the day she bows out I have to stand behind her. (Not that my standing behind her amounts a hill of beans).  I like her,  and yes it might be because she is a women.   I have seen over time that women leaders have been good for that country.  I Think Hillary Clinton would be could for the United States of America.   I am not looking for any yeahs  or sneers  just to try to have you look at it in a different light.  If Hillary Clinton was a republican I would still vote for her.  If John McCain was a democrat, would you vote for him?

The Polls say  Clinton 47 Obama 35  McCain leading over Romney by 3% Over here Hilary is down by 2% so that race is a little bit to close to call  But look over here where Romney is doing poorly here but on the other hand he has McCain there  This race in the sate of is going down right to the wire for the democrats McCain has a comfortable lead now  Obama has a nice 20% lead in But in Clinton has him by 30% This hurt McCain but that didn't help Romney Clinton has this many States and Obama that many there is still where it is to close to call.............................

John McCain won a Big victory in Florida.  It looks like the end for Rudy Giuliani.  Tomorrow at the Reagan Library in California The former Mayor of New York City is expected to throw his support to John McCain.  This is a big shot in the arm for McCain and a major defeat for Mitt Romney.  Slowly but surely people are seeing Mitt for what he is.  Yes Mr. Flip Flop I saw this and I'll do that is losing his footing.  I think Romney will stay to the end, but  Super Tuesday will see major loses for him.   Hillary got a nice boost in Florida, even with the very recent endorsements of the Kennedy's for Obama.  I wonder if that hurt him?  Either way, things are slowly taken it's course.  Do I dare make another of my so far pretty good predictions and say it will be McCain and Clinton that will duke it out for the top.

I heard the comment made by Hillary Clinton about the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King.  Her words were taken so far out of contents By Obama and Edwards they should be ashamed of themselves.  She embraced the work of Dr. King and said that he was the inspiration for LBJ passing the Civil Rights Act of 1964.  All she said was that it took a President to get this do.  Now Obama is acting like a hurt little school girl.  Whoopee Doo he has Al Sharpton speaking against Mrs. Clinton.  Oh yeah I want him on my side.  Give him the key to the White House Al's on his side.  Done Deal!!  Right behind here comes John Edwards saying what a good guy Obama is, and what a terrible thing Hillary did.  Shame Shame Shame on you John Edwards.  Running a distant third and probaly will drop out by Super Tuesday (Feb. 5th) if not before,  thinking well Vice President won't be bad is starting to snuggle right up to Obama.  I think people will see right pass this and go to Hillary once and for all.

This race is making me sick to my stomach. Over a year of this mud slinging, and when they drop out they are buddies again.  Both sides Republican and Democrat and everyone in between.  I'm tied... Let's vote next week.  Yeah let's have a revolution.  It won't put any money in my pocket or the 99% other Americans.  I will wake up on that cold day in Jan. a year from now in the same boat I am now.  There is only one thing that would make me feel worst then I do now, and that is if Bush figures out a way to stay 4 more years.

I am sitting here thinking, I don't remember anytime in my life when things seemed so urgent.  Why? What's different now? There are several things that make 2008 different than any other election year.  Lets start with the most obvious.   It's the first time in history that we have a Woman and a African American seeking the highest office in our land.  They are both Democrats and Conservatives don't like either one of them.  I wonder if one or both were Republicans that would change.  Well they are not and that in itself  will cost them votes.  (In this neck of the woods anyway)  What else is going on?  How about a very unpopular war.  I can recall another unpopular war a few decades ago.  Not the same.  This time it's not the hippies that are calling for an end.  This time people from 18 to 88 are saying enough is enough. I heard a report the other night.  It was talking about how the Surge has helped.  The person was crowing "ONLY 25 AMERICAN SOLDIERS DIED LAST MONTH".   Only?  Why should anyone die?  When is the United States of America going to stop being the worlds baby sitter?  So there is another reason this year is so important.  My support goes with the person who says lets get out of Iraq.  (NOW)  Some other things that make this year different I think is the Internet.  More than ever people know things and are paying attention more than ever before.   And last but not least the most important thing this year is that we will finally rid ourselves of 8 years of a Administration that didn't listen to the people.  An administration that in my opinion was slightly better than a dictatorship.  It's important this year that you do your homework.  It's important this year if you have child voting for the first time you stress how important it is to do so.  It's important this year because more than any time in history we try to get it right.  Things are changing quickly.  The person I thought I was going to vote for may not be around in November, but neither is yours.  Have a back up plan.  And if you like to complain like I sometimes do, you have to VOTE.

One night Two party's 4 hours of a political commercial.  The next time I sit through a debate it will be between 2 candidates.  Tonight was 10 people running for their party's nomination and as far as I'm concern nothing came out of this that has changed my mind.  I don't necessarily think they really were out to.  They all had the stage to basically tell you why to vote for them and not the other person.  I found the democrats a touch more civil.  The republicans took every chance to swipe at Mitt Romney.  It kind of reminded me of  The Great African Plains where the mighty Gazelle is wounded.  Above the vultures wait for that right moment.  On the other side Edwards teamed up with Obama to take a hit at Hilliary when ever possible.   I think they all got a chance to sell their goods.

I couldn't help notice a couple of superficial things.  I couldn't take my eyes off of John Edwards hair.  At the point where it is parted I thought was a bit phony.  I think there is something under there to give it lift.  Mrs. Clinton looks like she got a fresh shot of Botox.  She probably travels with it. Bill Richardson's tie wasn't fully up there.  He has the same problem I do.  A tie at full staff interferes with a double chin.

Charlie Gibson did a pretty good job.  All and all I was bored stiff.  I played some solitaire and looked through some new catalogs to help me make it.   Winners and Loser's?  Time will tell!

I have about 10 min. before the Democrats take the stage.  More than anything the thing I found most interesting was the smiles and banter that took place with the Democrat  &  Republicans who are fighting for their party's nomination.  I wish I was a fly on the wall to hear some of the chit chat.  I read lips pretty well and I'll let you in on some of the exchanges.

Romney said to Edwards "who does your hair".   McCain to Clinton "is that Channel your wearing"  Mr. Paul made the biggest blunder when he asked Obama to get his car.

Be back after the Dem's to give you my first hand assement.  So till then Fenwaydav  signing off......

I was reading a fellow blogger and his thoughts on how Mr. Huckabee's past is catching up with him.   I was going to write in and as I was doing so, I said Fenwaydav you have a blog of your own here.  No matter how you feel about Huckabee,  I'm sure what I am about to write will not get the approval of alot of you. And as always I have to say  TO BAD.

I write the following as a Liberal and a Democrat.  In itself a dirty word or two.  I was honestly looking at Huckabee as a possible alternative.  With what's come out about him in the recent weeks I am pretty sure that won't be happening.  Today I saw his latest commercial.  I was kind of blind sided by what he had to say.   I also have to say that I am para phrasing.  In it, a sweater clad Huckabee is talking about the Christmas Season,  and say's that WE are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.  I don't know who he was speaking to, but it certainly wasn't  to this Jew.

I have spoke about the Holiday season in some of my Blogs.  A Christmas Tree should be a Christmas Tree.  God should remain in the Pledge of Allegiance.  This BLEEP that some civil liberties groups are saying what should be in and what should be out  is, well BLEEP.  But Huckabee on National Television  saying WE are celebrating the Birth of Christ Is wrong.  May you and He.  But this is one case where I think The line has to be drawn.

I am not saying he shouldn't believe and maybe even talk about Christ, but not in this forum.  In this instance he is leaving to many people out. In my humble  opinion I almost feel like he  I using Christ, like Obama used Oprah,  and Hilliary used Her Mother and Daughter.  This has been one weird campaign season and I for one am glad it's coming to a end.  Well kind of.  It's been going on almost since Bush took office.  It's almost like the Christmas Season itself.  Every year the sales start earlier.  Next year it maybe Labor day!  I didn't mean to offend anyone.  I do truly love the season and all it stands for.

It's now been a few days since Mitt Romney gave his Checker's speech.  Oh I'm sorry that's the wrong President, he was trying to imitate a different President.  Although a little more like Nixon wouldn't be a bad idea.   Mr. Romney speaking on his Mormonism didn't do that.  He  said Mormon once in almost 30 min.  He took the free air time  to give us more of a history lesson.   With the Flags of the U.S. behind him (and that one big beautiful flag) He tried to convince me and the millions of others that he is the best man to be our next President.  I find it ironic how he's going to take us to better times making the speech from the Library of the father who brought us to where we are today.  A bankrupt United States of America  both fiscally and spiritually.  Being introduced by George the First making it clear that this was not an endorsement. Did you see how Mama Babs  looked lovingly up to him.  (Mitt) Almost like a son.  To paraphrase he made it clear he would answer to no  one religion.  He gave a big plug to the faith of his Father.  Did you know his father's father had five wives.  Did you know that Blacks were not admitted to the Church till the mid 70's, did you know the inferior role the women till this day play.  He didn't say that or alot  of other things.  If ever given the chance to see the Mormon Tabernacle Choir  please do.  Specially this time of year.  They are truly wonderful and spectacular.  The one odd thing you will notice in the sea of white faces,  is I think two black singers.  They should have not had any blacks, it would not have been so noticeable.  I know you folks reading this will find it hard to believe,  but you are just a small block of  people who like him.

From this day forward,  I pledge to you  I will no longer mention  Mormon in the same sentence  with Mitt Romney.  I will judge him solely on his record and him as a man.  I will no longer make fun of anything to do with the  Mormon Faith or Church. I am sorry if in the past I was rude to the People who are Mormon.  I still believe that we are " ONE NATION UNDER GOD"  and  The phrase "IN GOD WE TRUST"  are what sets the USA apart from any other country in the world.    Growing up in a Jewish home  we had many traditions handed down to us from my Grand Parents.  They weren't so much that they were Jewish Traditions,  but Eastern European.   Yes in our births, weddings, even deaths are Jewish Traditions. I even had a Bar-Mitzvah as did my brothers.  My parents taught us first and foremost we are Americans. If anyone would ask what are you, we were told to say "I am an American". As a little boy I once asked my mother if there was such a person as Jesus Christ.  She could have told me anything at that point and I would have trusted it to be the truth.  What she did however say was READ AND MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND. I did.  I have come to believe in the story of Jesus.  I find his life and death fascinating. In my bedroom hangs a picture I bought at the Museum of Fine  Art depicting the birth of Christ and his travels to Bethlehem.  I love that picture. Do I believe He was the Son of God?  I won't answer that right now.  I do however feel he has no place in politics.  Like it or not, there are to many people that don't believe, and their feelings need to be respected.  Our Forefathers did make mention of God,  but I don't recall any doctrine that mentions Jesus.  So I may have taken a long way around to saying this, but in his speech, Mr Romney offended  alot of people in his bringing up  Jesus.  So tuff you say.  Well we will see if people want him.  Let the race begin!

I was watching the morning news today and saw an endorsement that I wouldn't want.  Curt Schilling on the stage with John McCain. I don't know  what McCain is thinking. but an endorsement from Schilling isn't going to put him in the White House.  With mic in hand  Curt walking the stage and talking too.  That's the first Mistake.  Ah he's a good man,  Ah he would make a good President, than with another series of Ah's and alot of  You no's,  he gave the mic over to Mr. McCain who must have been thinking "what did I just do"?  It seemed like the most uncomfortable position for all parties.  Why would he (McCain) feel like and endorsement from a bumbling idiot would do anything for his slumping campaign? A pitcher in the twilight of his career,  who can't speak  any better than this writer from Brooklyn.  Maybe Curt see's this as a stepping stone to a career in PoliticsIf that be the case, all I can say is "God Save The Queen".

It's a 10 million to 1 shot,  But golden boy Mitt Romney is slipping in Iowa.  I personally think alot of the hype is media driven, but that's all it might take to push  Mitt and his boys to do some drastic things.  We already see He's about to make a major speech about his Mormonism.  Should have been done months ago.  Will we find out if his miracle bloomers can help. Yeah, I know you are all laughing and saying "Hey Fenwaydav, Your girl Hilliary is fairing well in Iowa either."  I think she has less to lose if she loses in Iowa than Romney.  We"ll see, it only takes one trip in tank with a helmet on to push you to the point of no return. I just don't think Obama has what it takes to pull this one off.  Hey I've been wrong before. I'd even be willing to look more closely at Mr. Huckabee.  I think if the polls are right and Mike pulls a win out of Iowa, Mitt can kiss his 10 million dollars  and a chance of becoming President goodbye.
