I never liked thinking that I was "lying" to my children when I would put presents under the tree and gave Santa the credit! The money under their pillow was brought to them my the toothfairy, and of course those baskets waiting for them tomorrow morning!  I placed the baskets out just a few minutes ago, 'ate' the carrots and hopped away for the last hop!  Yes, my kids are now too old to 'believe."    Im struggling with this.  I love the wonder in their faces.  The magicalness (is that a word?) of the whole idea of santa, the bunny, etc.  My son looked at me tonight as he was laying in bed and was like, mom, tell me the truth are you the easter bunny?  I looked at him straight up and said, me? the bunny? Nah!!  I believe in him and you should too, goodnight.  I'm not one to lie.  I am a straight shooter.  But this, just this one time I am justified, I think.  To give him and me ONE last magical night!  Im heartbroken its all over....Time goes so fast w/our little ones ... Happy Easter Everyone...Smiley....

It is not over...the magical moments of parenthood "morph" inot new ones. Don't be sad at the passing of "old" joys, but hopeful that a lifetime of joys awaits you. From everything you've written, you are a loving dedicated and selfless mother. Your reward will be loving dedicated and selfless children..dedicated to you.

And, let's re-focus for a sec on the true meaning of Easter...it marks the resurrection of Christ. It is the bellweather of hope. It proves for us there is the HOPE of his coming again...that same hope I'm suggesting you have for your children!!!

God bless you and your children on this Easter...wondrous moment await you.

HAPPY EASTER! I know how you feel. My little one is done too. It is a right of passage that we hoped would never come and it always comes too soon.

I remember being a senior in high school,
and I came home from school crying, i asked my mother "mom the other kids at school said
there was no Santa" My mom said" You are old enough, it's true there is no Santa."
I said to Mom" Well okay but just don't tell
me there's no easter Bunny"
LOL LOL LOL
No but seriously, You are never to old to believe in something, and as long as you are
making people happy, who care's what's real or not real.

Hey Everyone!
Well they woke this morning ... SOOOOO excited w/their baskets!! Looking around for stray strands of fur that might have fallen off!! So cute!! I enjoyed my last morning of believing in the bunny!!!
Chip, well put! You are so right! Thank you for putting that in perspective for me! momryan and jovanone, I know it's a right of passage and one we've all endured .. it did just make me a wee bit sad! : ( However i WILL continue to make baskets and have fun with it .. while remembering what Easter is really about! Kilnsetter, i know .. it was really well put : )
Hope you ALL enjoyed your holiday today!!!

Smiley, if you're giving your children reasons to believe in the magic of childhood, I personally don't consider it lying. And keep this in mind- I was getting an Easter basket every year until 3 years ago. And I'm older than Jovan's daughter!

Happy Easter-Our kids range from 28 down to 12. Each and every year that old bunny shows up and brings them each a basket. Still hides them too. It's a good thing, because sometimes the older ones don't arrive until the afternoon. Thankfully, about two years ago he stopped leaving huge powdery footprints on the floors and rugs. Some things are magical, they don't have to end.God bless.

I TOO HAVE CHILDREN WHO ARE GETTING "OLDER" 13 AND 16 AND THE MAGIC DOESNT HAVE TO END< MY DAUGHTER DIDNT WANT TO COLOR EGGS WITH ME THIS YEAR SO I ASKED MY NEIGHBOR NEXT DOOR IF I MAY "BORROW HIS 7yrOLD DAUGHTER" ON FRIDAY TO COLOR EGGS WITH!! AND WE HAD A BALL , see HER REAL MOM IS NOT WITH THEM, SO I GAVE A LITTLE OF MYSELF TO SOMEONE ELSES CHILD AND I THINK I HAD MORE FUN THAN SHE DID. MY POINT IS , THAT IF YOU FIND THAT YOUR CHILDREN ARE GETTING TO OLD FOR THESE MAGICAIL HOLIDAYS , FIND SOMEONE WHO CAN BENIFIT FROM YOUR GENEROSITY, AND A LITTLE GOES ALONG WAY, THEIR ARE ALOT OF KIDS OUT THEIR WHO NEED US .I KNOW SEVERAL SINGLE DADS AROUND WERE I LIVE AND I LOVE TO WATCH MOVIES WITH THEM AND MAKE CRAFTS WITH THEM AND BE LIKE A FOSTER MOM ,I GET MORE JOY OUT OF IT THAN THEY DO!!!!

Smiley, keep in mind that if things hadn't turned out the way they had, I would still be getting an Easter basket, even breathing down 30's neck. But, since that won't change, at least for now, I don't celebrate Easter any longer. Can't say I won't in the future, but for right now I don't.

smiley, I don't believe in none of that stuff but however its only a lie if your kids don't pass it on to there kids with the same understanding that you have. When they know the real truth and still keep going with it it's no longer a lie, it's a tradition and in this case I agree with it:) don't stress yourself out over it, your smiley:)
