There is a new law that states beginning July 1 ALL Massachusetts residents MUST have Health Care. What about those of us single people that fall above the minimum limit for free insurance , but below the lowest costing insurance ? I myself as a single person (never mind these poor people with 2 or more kids) really can't afford insurance. If we do NOT have health insurance by December 31 of this year we would loose an income tax deduction of $219 for a single person , then be fined monthly in 2008 for every month that we do NOT have health insurance. What is wrong with this state ?
Useing myself as an example ... by the time I pay my rent , electricity , heat , buy food , car payment , car insurance , fuel for my car , I have exactly $253 per month left for clothes , laundry , and any auto repairs that may happen to show up.
This breaks down to exactly $63.25 per week , and here I'm working 2 jobs. Do our lawmakers not realize that law will chase a lot of us out of the state ? I for one am already looking to bail from the “Wonderfull” State of Massachusetts yet again.
Any other thoughts on this “New Law” ?
Over the last 2 days , I had read an article in the metrowest daily news on the Odgren trial.
On both days the articles mentioned how his lawyers had mentioned how he (Odgren) had read Stephen King's "Dark Tower " series of books (7 total). Odgren had started wearing a "Trench Coat" like those in the story. I myself have read this series of books and there is NO character in any 1 of the 7 books that wears a trench coat.
If he had driven a 1958 Plymouth Fury , killed a few people , would he then have been obsessed with the book "Christine" ?
Had he been a pyro , obsessed with "Firestarter" ?
Had he been obsessed with deadly diseases that would kill masses of people ... "The Stand"?
And if his being admitted to Westboro State Hospital does not help him , will we then put him on death row .. like "John Coffey" in "The Green Mile" ?
As you all may be able to tell , I too am a Stephen King fan , but do not wish to go out and start killing people. I have also watched many many horror movies , I have even watched atleast 3 of the "Faces of Death" movies , and play many violent video and / or computer games.
All of these facts about myself does NOT make me want to go out and kill anyone.
When are we as a nation going to stop balmeing Movies , books , and video games for the mental breakdowns of a few people ?
I have even met a few people who are "Goth" , wear trench coats , are Stephen King and horror film fans , yet never once even considered hurting anyone.
Any other thoughts on this ?
